Gold & Chrome Text Effect
This tutorial combines the effects of the Real Gold and Chrome gradients to produce a Gold Chrome effect on text.
To practice this tutorial, download the ChromeGold.zip file and unzip the contents in the Gradients folder of the directory MYPSP8Files. Open a new image in PSP 8 with the dimensions 400 x 150. Select a neutral background color the using the Text tool enter some text in the box. For this tutorial we will use the Impact font at 72 points Bold and create the text as a floating selection. Type the word GChrome in the text window and click the Apply button.. PSP will place a Marquee around the text to indicate that it is a floating selection.
Don't rush through this. This tutorial is slightly different from the Chrome tutorial.

Let's darken the text a little. Go to the Main Menu bar and select Adjust > Brightness and Contrast > Levels. Set the center diamond slider to 0.68 by moving it to the right.
Now go to the Photo Toolbar and select the Auto Contrast feature. Go to the Photo Toolbar and select Enhance Photo > Automatic Contrast Enhancement. In the dialog window, set the Bias to Darker, the Strength to Normal and the Appearance to Natural as shown.
Now go to the Photo Toolbar again and select Enhance Photo > Clarify. When the AUto Action window opens, simply click the OK button.
The Clarify dialog window will now open. Set the Strength of Effect value to maximum (5) and click OK.
To finish the effect we will use the Unsharp Mask. The Unsharp Mask will sharpen Mid to High contrast pixels and produce a reflection effect or at least the illusion of one. In the USM dialog window, enter the values shown.
In the fianl image, a Star Glint was added to enhance the reflection a bit more. There you have it. Plain and simple.
